DIWATA

DIWATA, which stands for Determined Independent Women in Action for Total Advancement, has emerged in response to the longstanding need of Philippine migrant women residing and working in Greece to unite, fostering a sense of solidarity to enhance their circumstances and address unique challenges. The organization is dedicated to establishing an impactful and empowering support system for these women. Notably, DIWATA proudly holds the distinction of being a founding member of Babaylan – the Philippine Women’s Network in Europe.

DIWATA envisions a future where Philippine migrant women in Greece stand united, empowered, and liberated, actively contributing to their own advancement and the betterment of their communities.

To promote empowerment, economic sustainability, and cooperation through lawful programs and services that address the unique challenges and aspirations of women in our community.

Country representatives play a crucial role in facilitating communication, coordination, and collaboration among the various organizations operating within different European countries. These representatives serve as the local ambassadors and advocates for the network, ensuring that the specific needs and perspectives of Filipina women in their respective countries are addressed effectively.

DIWATA’s Services

Empowering Migrant Women

Through its Savings and Micro Credit Cooperative, the organization provides microfinancial assistance, addressing the financial needs of its members and their families in the Philippines. Committed to ongoing education, DIWATA conducts various educational activities, including team building, cooperative management, personality development, and skills enhancement seminars on diverse issues. In pursuit of social responsibility, DIWATA forges meaningful partnerships with organizations in the Philippines, offering assistance to calamity victims and supporting entrepreneurial activities in rural areas. The organization sponsors cultural presentations and has institutionalized “The Outstanding Philippine Women in Greece (TOPWIG)” awards, recognizing and honoring achievements within its community.

Collective Issue Resolution

We provide a forum for women to discuss specific issues and problems, seeking solutions through collective efforts.

International Collaboration

We establish links with women organizations supportive of women migrants in Greece, other parts of Europe,  to carry out civic activities and contribute to social responsibility.

Educational Activities

We conduct continuing education on team building, cooperative management, personality development, skills development, and seminars on various issues.

Empowerment and Participation

We promote empowerment and full participation in development processes through the sharing of experiences, information, and resources.
